Radipole Lake

Radipole Lake picture

Radipole Lake is a very special nature reserve in the middle of Weymouth. It is a very important place for migrating birds. Radipole Lake became a bird sanctuary in 1929 and has been run by the RSPB since 1976. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, which means that it has special protection in law.

Radipole Lake is home to lots of rare birds like Cetti's warblers, Bearded Tits and Bitterns. The visitor centre is open every day (except Christmas!) and there is always someone there who can tell you what to look out for. For more details of opening times and how to get there, see the RSPB website.
